IGN.com hints at Selectable ultras for SSF4

It is pretty much confirmed that all characters in Super Street Fighter IV will have a secoind ultra, what is not known, however, is wether these ultras are available throughout the match or selectable in the start of the match. while we still do not have a confirmation about any of the 2 options, IGN.com hinted at the latter being the case in their new “characters we want to see in ssf4″ article.

From the article:” S uper Street Fighter IV, then, has us more than a little sweaty palmed, the prospect of new challengers, a new Ultra system (which Capcom is being coy on, but we’ve played it and would point anyone who wants a point of reference towards Street Fighter III’s Super Arts) ”

So, yep, seems like they will be selectable like in the SF3 series. What do you guys think of that? yay or nay?

I think they will be selectable, if they are adding tweaks/new moves for everyone, 2 possible ultras at any given time might be a little cluttered, but who knows, it could work either way

I actually wouldn’t want to see selectable supers this time. I understand the strategy concept, but as people remember, some super’s in third strike never got used at all, because of exploits found in one supers that made a a key part of a character’s play strategy, hence making the other two basically useless. Leave them all in so you don’t know whats comin.

Nay for me… what I would fancy is to surprise the opponent with two different ultras in the same battle, leave room for the unexpected! different tactics! thats what is all about

it worked with Gen, didnt it?

well i hope it is 2 ultras i wish if can be selectable in the battle the 2 ultras not in the begining like stf3… but whoo knows…

I dont see how this screen reminds you of the famitsu screen with the kunai… if you look at the top right of that screen then you will see the kunai, in the famitsu screen Guy is doing his rolling backfist move and just like in 3rd strike certain moves will negate the kunai, which is what guy is doing in that screen shot. But in this screen he is activating his super, i dont see any resemblance, unless you think the activation effects look like a kunai…?

BigInitialD, do u know what is the next move?
and the screens he only fights against Rose.
And the guy’s move, he needs to stay close to hit, then why he is using his move if Rose is far? Maybe is a new Guy move. I want Ibuki in the game, but I dont know that screen is from a fight of her against Guy. Let us sse what Capcom will show us in this week.

And that screen show him in another angle. I don’t think that if have a kunai move there,the game show in that closed angle only for a block.

Noob Xaibot argument is so not valid. Even if you have both Ultras during a match the same thing will always happen.

well in the famitsu screen the kunai is pointed at him. this screen looks like the startup of his SFA super (qcf x2+P) and the only other thing it could be is rolentos knife… but there is a circle at the end of the object so its a kunai. but like @Giiyom said even if you have all available ultras doesnt change the fact that the same one will be used. Look at MvC2 cable has 2 supers yet only one is used, same with half the cast. Just cause you got them all doesnt change the fact that at least 1 will suck and wont be used.

also most of you dont realise that there is still only 1 super but 2 ultras. so there arent multiple supers only multiple ULTRAS.

NAY! I didn’t like it on Street Fighter III because I used different supers during a battle for different occasions. Nay.

Well if you look at the gameplay trailers of Juri vs T hawk and Juri vs Deejay YOU WILL NOTICE t.hawks says ultra move I while Juri’s cleaarly sayd Ultra Move II so im 100% sure it will be selectable jus like sf3
