Why is it so hard to see this video? Every other match is simply posted on utube.

BigInitialD | January 3, 2010 at 8:50 pm

because with matches like this they only let in 1 camera, gooteck, and they basically have the sole rights to this. They want to let the hype build up with talk and discussion, then they release the video.
My buddy NEO had a couple money matches last year at evo, I was the only camera allowed in to record, it was some top tier players in MVC2.

daigo lost,big fuggin whoop.

dedebr | January 4, 2010 at 10:33 am

Arturo is good… very good… but is very diferent to prepare to chalenge the champion vs prepare to defend your your status against everyone else… Not the best match of 2009. Not even close.

Fake, lame and gay.

nerrimat | January 4, 2010 at 12:50 pm

This match it’s not the best!!!
Arturo it’s not that good, he’s just a big chicken waiting all the fu**** time, I hate he’s fighting style!!!!

Johan | January 4, 2010 at 2:14 pm

Arturo has a lame way of fighting… He waited the whole time.. This was the worse match I seen..

Tandenengine! | January 4, 2010 at 4:18 pm

Its funny that daigo is regarded as being soooooo good, fact is that a very small percentage of players even compete in big tournaments, think if the option was there for more people to participate, wether thats a financial road-block or geographical problem (ie visa or ability to travel etc.) the winner wouldn’t be just the regular names.

i dont see anything here or in any sf4 video thats even close to the 3rd strike moments, i love this game and will fight ne body, but its still just a spamming pretty version of sf2 turbo.

psn-Danny2Times
yes i play seth so save your breath joppula lol!

Joppula | January 4, 2010 at 4:21 pm

He plays the match correctly, but it’s not very exciting. I agree the this is hardly the best match of 09. I liked the Shine/Sanford match better. Less technical, but mire of a nail biter.

Joppula | January 4, 2010 at 4:25 pm

I could care less about Seth. He’s a busted character but not a banned one. So he’s fine by me. Talking about Seth is a Drag, I can’t have my buzz killed. L8er.

Tandenengine! | January 4, 2010 at 4:43 pm

@ joppula

i love the “busted” character thing, technical? you thought this was technical? that says enuff.

@ everyone
lets get a list of busted characters for capcom to “fix” joppula and i have had some discussion so ill get the ball rolling with his picks (not mine, i think its balanced just fine)

1.Seth
2.Sagat
3.Blanka
4.Vega (claw)

these are all “busted characters” as joppula says, who else is “busted”?

Joppula | January 4, 2010 at 5:01 pm

Arturo vs Daigo isn’t a technical match? Maybe they just button mash? Anyway, I have no interest in having these talks on this site. Please leave my name out of any and all future posts.

Joppula | January 4, 2010 at 7:19 pm

To address the above post, this list in no way reflects how I feel about SF4. It is my opinion that certain matchups can be difficult. For instance Dictator vs Guile. I feel some characters have a larger Tool box than others.

Ultimatly it comes down to matchups and player skill. It is my personal feeling that Seth is slightly over powered. Perhaps I’m wrong.

Who cares anyway? I’d rather spend time looking up SSF4 than arguing.

Tandenengine! | January 4, 2010 at 8:13 pm

@ (name withheld)

Not arguing at all lol, when you get beat, you say all the above mentioned are broken, and wtf are u saying sanford/shine was less technical?

Did u see either cancel like sanford did? Chain more than a 3 hit link? Your point is what’s “busted” imo btw.

But then again, your the insider right? P……. Ooohhhh look out!

Does ne one on here agree with the named above in regard to being broken characters?

Tandenengine! | January 4, 2010 at 8:18 pm

Oh and btw,

Is it match ups or player skill?

It can’t be both, blaming it on either is funny.

Match up- a infant can beat ne skilled player if using sagat against let’s say dan? Lol really?

Player skill- “oh I just got owned so ummm well…. There’s gotta b a reason I lost cuz I’m just better than that dude”
Lmfao!

What does that even mean?

BigInitialD | January 4, 2010 at 9:07 pm

wow the inaccuarcies here are vast
no character is broken!

HOW IS SETH BROKEN!?!?!?
he has the lowest health, deals shit for damage, and has the most risks of any character.

To use Ryu it takes about a day or two at most to get his general strategy and concept down, while mastering him takes maybe a month of intense training.
Seth on the other hand, you need a week to learn how to play him and months of training to master him, because you have to really know your opponent and their openings, while Ryu makes openings.

and Sagat isnt broken, he is as broken as he has been on any other game, you get caught with a Fierce Tiger Uppercut and you take massive dmg, thats how its always been, and he has been a fireball spamming whore, and been able to control the area around him quite well.
You need to look at Rufus as being the most broken, his Ultra sucks you in and if he gets one hit the entire thing goes off, and what about his j.RH into EX Snake Strike, 1/4 dmg come on!
but honestly I think the “overpowered/Broken” characters stay the same while other characters just get balanced.

and WTF is with the hate for Dan, I can rape Sagats online with Dan, he is actually a good character, way under rated

add me on XBL

This wasn’t voted Match of 2009 on SRK. Gootecks posted it as his match of 2009.

Match of the year was Sabre vs. Alex Valle from EVO 5v5 exhibition.

Joppula | January 4, 2010 at 10:30 pm

Well to the expertese of BiginitalD I suppose I can only defer to “Quotes” from J.Wong, Seth Killian and several Capcom producers that Seth is “Unfair” and “Ended up too powerful”. While he may not be “Broke” his low hp is the only thing keeping him from being the ultimate character.

He takes skill to learn and to use. No doubt. I’m not saying that’s easy, mad props to all Seth players.

What I’m saying is once he’s learned he holds a distinct advantage over almost the entire roster. And how couldn’t he? He has the major moves of every character in the game. His combo chains into stun are almost limitless.

Again, these quotes are not mine, but the “real” pros and programmers. They are not hard to find either.

For the record. I may be wrong, these are just my personal feelings. I have no interest in battling over this. I know at least two of you don’t agree and that’s fine.

I’ll agree to disagree.

Tandenengine! | January 4, 2010 at 10:49 pm

@bidinitialD

Finally! Sum 1 with a real opinion, and makes a great point.

“He” (don’t use his name guys trust me on this) sez s-kill,wong etc said “overpowered” totally not true, s-kill meant the cpu and he clearly sez that.
Wong said sagat, ken, gouken are bein called broken and that he said is due to network lag.

Nobody at capcom has said nething about that at all, in fact the only comments have been about the uses of moves and combos being taken in a different direction than anticipated.

I’ve fought u b4 bidD, I had the 360 but 1 redlined and the other I traded in b4 it happened again, used to be hanzgrubin on live.

We fought a bunch, good stuff btw.

Joppula | January 5, 2010 at 12:17 am

Good stuff on going along with his opinion. Anyone who can validate jumping HP spam can be his bff.

His next comment will say I’m a flow chart Ryu and not good. But in person he says I’m the best Ryu he plays.

Those are direct quotes. And the producer was not talking about the A.I.

BigInitialD | January 5, 2010 at 2:23 am

I play seth, and he has an uphill battle because you have to play cautious but very agressive, thats the best way to win… depending on the situation, Seth isnt broken, the only thing seth killian or jwong said was about sagat, seth isnt overpowered, if he had higher health then yeah he would be higher, but his stun combos also take quite a bit of practice and waiting at times to execute
in one night of hardcore playing i can get a high stun combo maybe 1 out of 5 games, just because people know when to avoid that cr.MK or jump when he teleports, its just like with Ryu players, which is my other main, wait for a chance to SRK-> Ultra
you know they want it but you have to keep that always in the back of your mind cause they are gonna play footsies till that thought leaves your mind and all the sudden, SRK-> Ultra
everyone knows that i want those stun combos, and they always have that in their heads while facing me, I actually stun more with Chun than Seth

I play mid range pokes and mix ups with seth cause the stun combos have too much risk, unless i get a lvl 3 FA into cr.LP> cr.LP> cr.MP> Rapid Kicks> stomps, then it takes only 2 more hits to stun on most chars
he isnt quite broken just has alot of variety, he can play several roles, you just have to take guesses sometimes which can lead to death with seth.

With Sagat you can play kinda wild and care free with no real risk, and huge pay off

Tandenengine! | January 5, 2010 at 9:15 am

@ biginitialD

So true, but little newbs and spazz players will always hate the seth player. Fact is just cuz u got the platinum trophy (joppula) that doesn’t make u the best, or ne better.

This joppula guy is a freak, we’ve been friends for over 20 years and he edged me out in 3rd strike and ran lip all the time, he hosts a 4-5 man turny in his basement and beats on his cousins that barely play sf. Then gives himself a picture he framed and says he’s the best!?

So now in 4 I’ve really been beating him like on a 2-6 ratio and he spazzes, deletes me from friends lists and txtxs me all night with his inside scoop he reads online.

Sorry for flaming on the turd, but he thinks he’s the best player and if u beat him, u use a busted character!?

Ps, he really only allows certain members of his “circle” compete in his basement turny, lol a 5 man turny, forces us to pick 5 guys and then we roll dice to see who fights who and what characters get used?

Does that even make sense!? A tournament is bring ur best/main and bring ur A game. Not pick 5 guys and let dice decide which characters fight?

This is the guy who said “its all about match ups and player skill”

Lmfao!

Joppula | January 5, 2010 at 10:08 am

Sorry, at a time when the Sf3 scene wasn’t doing much were we lived it seemed like a fun idea. I guess it was not enjoyed by all. I did my best. Sorry.

I hope the chronicles of my personal life online can end here. Good luck to my old friend.

Lonny | January 5, 2010 at 10:11 pm

That seems kinda fun when you’re kinda bored.

Biginitiald | January 6, 2010 at 1:19 am

me and my buddies dont hold a tournament unless we have at least 10 people.

average ammount of people is about 15
which is pretty good seeing as how I live in a little-ish town called Bakersfield (hometown of Buck Owens and Korn)
