It was known for some times that the 2010 edition of the CES expo (held in vegas from Jan 7th to 10th) will feature a playable version of Super Street Fighter IV. what was not known is that capcom will be throwing the famous Street Fighter Fight club on January 9th offering a chance for everyone who can attend (and get an rsvp) to play a new SSFIv build featuring the so far announced characters.

From Capcom Unity: “Yep–we’re throwing a little Las Vegas “fight club,” and it will be the first chance anywhere for people to go hands-on with the new characters. In addition to the returning SFIV cast, and SSFIV newcomers, Juri, Dee Jay, and T. Hawk, we’ll also have Guy, Cody, and Adon playable all night!

Where:  Las Vegas, in our suite in Planet Hollywood.

When:  Thursday, January 7th, from 7-10pm.

How:  Send THIS GUY a note explaining why we should pick you.  If you get in, you can also bring 1 guest–everyone must be 18+ with ID to get in!

torrentfreak has published a list of the most downloaded illegal copies of games during this year.  ranking at number 5 for the pc and number 2 for the xbox360 is non other than our beloved Street Fighter IV.

While this might be considered a bd news for capcom, i see it as a positive statement since it proves how popular and famous Street Fighter has become. Also being originally from a country where illegal games are sold everywhere, i can vouch that 90% of people who pirates games are not going to buy the original if that is their only option as most people who pirate stuff are so poor that spending $59.99 on a game is considered blasphemy.

Just my opinion though : )

postponed

Rememebr the last time Capcom published their forecast for this fiscal year (ending in March 31st 2010)? well if you don’t it actually showed SSF4 to be released before March 31st. However, it appears now that things have changed, as the newest Forecast for 2010 shows SSF4 as a postponed game to be released during the timeframe starting from april 1st 2010to March 2011.

Now this could still means that SSF4 will be released in April as some rumors are suggesting, however this kills any hope for SSF4 to be released before March 31st 2010.

A crazy rumour has surfaced online though neogaf and wiieveryday blog, sates that the latest January famitsu hitting th stands this week reveals the following information abt ssf4:

スーパーストリートファイターIV
4月1日 3980円
いぶき、ダッドリー、まこと、シャドウ、ハカン
シャドウはソニックブームを使う
ハカンはまんまダラン

which translates kartmasters from SRK to :

Super Street Fighter IV
April 1 ¥ 3980
Ibuki, Dudley, Makoto, shadow, Hakan
Shadow uses a sonic boom
Hakan Manma Darran

If this is indeed true then what a surprise. Shadow is also the code name for Charlie, that bison gave him when he brainwashed him in the Udon comics. shadow is also a version of charlie nash in Marvel vs Street Fighter.

The other cool thing if this rumor is tru is that it confirms the release date of SSF4 as April1st which falls on a thursday, the usual day of the week where games gets released in Japan (note: Japan does not celebrate april’s fool day)

This should not take long to be either confirmed or debunked as we should start seeing famitsu scans sometimes today. stay tuned!

UPDATE: wiiblog removed the paragraph mentioning SSFIV from their website which means either it was a hoax or Capcom (or famitsu) told them to remove the info.

These are 2 videos from the stream where we got to see the main menu and character select screen for the first time, enjoy (the frame rate is very choppy):

ssf41In a special famitsu online show, ono san showed, for the first time, the main menu, Character select and stage select screens for super street fighter IV.

Analyzing the select creen will make you notice that there are 4 more characters to be revealed, giving more authenticity to the leaked roster which predicted that there are 4 remaining characters and they are dudley, makoto, ibuki and hakan.

The stage select screen on the other hand shows that there might be 2 more stages to be revealed as they are replaced with a question marl. At first i thought that was the random select however further analysis shows that the random option is yellow and at the bottom of the screen.

while i am very happy about the roster, the stages number leaves a bit to be desired, as iw as expecting character specific stages for this one. Oh well!

What do you guys think?

EDIT: I will post the video as soon as it is available!

Nakky Blogo Assistant Producer: Natsuki Shiozawa

Hello everyone!
The cold of winter is finally here, and Ono… Ono… was done in by a virus! It doesn’t seem to be the flu though, so that’s good at least. But, will he be OK in time for today’s Midnight Live?[A talkshow hosted by Famitsuu and Xbox Live -Jig's note] Hang in there, Ono!

Last week finally saw the revival of the Q&A section here on the blog, and I want to thank everyone for leaving so many comments!! No matter how many times I read them, they always lift my spirits! Really, there’s so many kind comments… I might even cry a little!
OK, that’s enough! I’m too busy for this!

Everyone, did you vote for the SF4 National Tournament Dream Team yet? The deadline is December 21, at 9 PM! So there’s only three days left. If you haven’t voted yet, head to the SF4 Mobile Site immediately and cast your vote! [A "dream team" of players will be qualified for the Japanese nationals by fan vote. Voting is open only to SF4 players with an arcade IC card registered with the SF4 mobile website -Jig's note]

OK, so let’s move on to SSF4.

Over at capcom unity, Seth Killian showed the so far announced new stages that will be included in SSF4. The post also includes tons of pictures so make sure to check it out here.

the werid or sad news though, is that in the official press release that Capcom send to the media, they state that this is a look at ALL the new stages of SSF4. Here is hoping it is a mistake, otherwise 4 new stages are really not enough at all.

from the press release: “As next year’s release of Super Street Fighter IV draws closer, we are revealing another bit of exciting news today over at Capcom-Unity.com. SSFIV Special Advisor Seth Killian has a look at all the new stages in Super Street Fighter IV, including a boatload of new screens. Head on over to this link at Capcom-Unity.com to check it out.

we have contacted capcom for further explanation and we’ll update the post as soon as we get an swer
