The folks over at Kotaku got the chance to play the pc version of Street Fighter IV at Captivate 09 and wrote a little preview from their experience.
From the article: “What Needs Improvement?
Online: While I’m told the online portion of Street Fighter IV will include all of the features found in the console versions, it won’t include anything new. The thing is, this is running on a PC, so why not include a bit more, like some way for gamers to hangout and watch matches online while waiting to fight? Capcom says they are looking into it.
What Should Stay The Same?
Controls: The controls feel identical to the console version. Playing with a Street Fighter fight pad made it impossible for me to tell the difference between the console and PC versions. ”

Seth Killian has just announced an extra sfIV feature that comes exclusively on the PC version of the game: Extra Shader
Seth Killian: “Street Fighter IV PC unites classic characters like Ryu, Chun Li, and Akuma with new challengers and gameplay for the next generation. It preserves the classic 2D mechanics and familiar controls, but frames the action with gorgeous new 3D models and amazing backgrounds.
SFIV PC is a Games for Windows Live title, so in addition to online play, it will support PC achievements and voice chat. It will also offer higher screen resolutions, and three new optional shaders based on the artistic trailers: “Watercolor,” “Poster,” and “Sumi-e ink” style ”
A release date of the PC port will be announced May 1st.

After spending extensive ammount of time playing the latest street fighter IV expansion pack, dubber power pack in North America, i present to you dear readers my thoughts on this free dlc divided into 3 section: The good, the bad, and the of course the Fugly
The Good:
- Replays (need i say more?)
- Revamped Online mode
- Level of competition is quite high
- Double blind selection in Championship mode
- The ranking up system is awesome
- Ability to save replays for xbox 360 version
- Some character balance changes (infinites are gone, Zangief lariat has new hitboxes, Fei’s chicken wing has more frames)
The Bad:
- Champioship mode is not really a tournament mode
- The inability to save replays for the ps3 version (seriously this is one bad decision that will back fire)
- No character balance change list
- No changes to the netcode
- Still no lobbies (makes me a sad panda)
The Fugly:
- The Replay Voting system for the Ps3 (seriously it is so bad its beyond belief. First you can only vote as goodm funny or awesome, second: the voting icons are in the middle in the screen and they are so annoying whith their sounds and number popping up it is really horrible and pointless. I will take the ability to save replays over the voting system anytime)
Conclusion:
The championship dlc adition is definitly a welcomed addition to the online world of SF4. The competion is fierce and watching replays is awesome. The ranking system is really a huge plus. Despite minor nitpicks, like the lack of lobbies and the inclusion of the really bad voting systemon the ps3, the powerpack dlc is still an AWESOME free expansion, and i take this opportunity to Thank capcom for giving us a free dlc expansion pack. I guess we can all be happy now and stop complaining abt the costumes paid dlc, Right? right?
What do you guys think?

This is just in guys!
The promised free DLC expansion pack dubbed Championship mode just rolled in for both Xbox360 and ps3.
The patch is 19mb for the ps3.
Check back later in the day for my first hands on impression of this free expansion.
EDIT: It seems that the xbox360 version of the patch has some problems. Many 360 users reported either a data corrupted msg after they download the patch or if it installs fine, they cant find nor create any match.
For the Data corrupted issue, users have reported that uninstalling the patch then clearing the xbox 360 cache will solve the problem. As for the connection issue to the matches there is still no fix available yet.
To clear your xbox 360 cache do the following (courtesy of
eventhubs):
Go to the Xbox Dashboard > My XBox > System > Settings > Memory.
Highlight where you have your saved data stored (the Hard Drive) and press Y.
Press X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, X.
You will see a confirmation message to confirm system maintenance, this clears your cache.
The ps3 version of the patch seems to be working fine.
EDIT2: Things seems to be working for the xbox360 as well right now.
Drop a comment and let us know what you think of this free update!

A new adition to ongoing Street Fighter comics by udon was released yestrday. Street Fighter IV #2 is the second issue of a 4 part mini series focusing on the SF4 characters. I had the chance to read the comic and as usual i had to post a review. Check it out:
Story: The story takes place right after the first issue. Seth, the SIN boss, who ordered C.Viper to capture some select fighters for his experiment recalls his birth and how he was created by the Shadaloo scientists.
We are then taken to Japan where Sakura and El fuerte are competing in some sort of a Japanese Olympic like game (very reminiscent to the popular Japanese show Takeshi’s castle). The game will soon be interrupted by Viper as well as rufus who is looking for Ken Masters friends for some leads on where to found his rival.

The story is without a doubt fun to read. Some aspects do feel a bit forced, like Rufus interrupting the game, and El fuerte’s presence in Japan without much explanation (maybe in the next issue?) however Seth’s origins are really well written and portrayed. In fact it gives the Character so much depth, an aspect he lacked in the game due to the almost non existent explanation of his presence.

A pretty fun to read interview of Daigo (the beast) and Iyo (the Dhalsim Japanese champion) from Capcom Unity, where they talk about Street Fighter IV in general.
From The interview:
Shino: What is it that keeps you playing SFIV? What’s so fun about it?
Iyo: Well, I could not win when I first started to play. I was so bad at it.
So many good players who are also my friends I met through playing Capcom vs. SNK2 started to play SFIV. So I naturally got introduced to the game. But it was October while all the other strong players had been playing since July. I started late. It’s not an excuse but I just could not win. So I started play more seriously. Definitely when I finally won though, I felt the joy. I’ve been enjoying the game ever since. You get to play with so many strong players, and that’s fun.
Daigo: Like I said earlier, it’s just so great to have a large player pool. Even if a game is great, if you don’t have anyone to play with, then it’s just no fun. So, having the huge community like what it has is just a great fun factor. Read more...

First there was only Ryu, Ken and Chunner’s outfits available at PSN home’s mall. But according to famitsu more outfits are on their way to the virtual mall.
From the picture above we can see the next to be available virtual sf4 costumes for your PSN avatars. Of course these outfits are not free and cost about a buck for each.
If unlike me you are a fan of home make sure to grab these once they are out.
In addition to the outfits, the ability to launch the game for PSN home will also be added. Look out for all these features starting tomorrow….at least in Japan.
ps: it is only a matter of time before we start seeing bearded men wearing sakura’s outfit in home
