About a month after the first epsiode of this great KOF tutorial series by publisher Atlus, a seond episode is now online which dwells into the game’s fighting engine. If you are serious about getting into the ever-growing KOF scene, this is a must watch:

KOF XIII is an amazing game, sadly it’s online part did not leave to its hype. While you get lag free matches sometimes, other times you get unacceptable INPUT lag, and as fighting game players we all know how horrible input lag is. To fix the netcode, atlus made a press release detailing the upcoming netcode patch and DLC character Nests Kyo.

It is unsure, however, if the patch will really fix the netcode, as the press release makes it sound that the patch will only add filtering options. Check it out:

Nests Kyo is the 2nd KOF XIII’s DLC, after Iori 98 which was released this week.

To answers the cry of countless fans, SNK-Playmore is working on a netcode patch to improve the online portion of KOF XIII. The announcement came through Atlus’s twitter, which also reported that a demo with 6 characters and 2 stages is available on Xbox live and will be for PSN next week.

The first KOFXIII DLC is out now! Iori with the power of flames (iori 98) is now available for download on both ps3 and xbox live. The dlc costs $4.99 for PS3 and 400 Ms points for xbox 360. If you are unsure to buy the DLC or not, i suggest you check the video below:

While 10 times better than KOF XII online, KOF XIII’s netcode still isn’t what it should be. Some matches work fine while others (sometimes against the same player) have noticeable lag. Many fans have made their voices heard through the Atlus forums, and the company, as professional as always, responded with the following statement:

“We have been carefully monitoring dialogue and feedback regarding the online play in THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII. While the general consensus is that KOF XIII is one of if not the best entry in the series and that the netcode is noticeably improved over the previous iteration, we’re saddened to hear that many of our fans are frustrated with their online experiences thus far. 

Just as it was in the months prior to the game’s release, we will do everything within our influence to help developer SNK PLAYMORE test and continue to improve KOF XIII’s network performance. To this end, the detailed feedback we’ve received is invaluable. 

We greatly appreciate the dedication of players who are diligently reporting their online experiences, and we sincerely thank the community for all of the passion and support it has offered us and THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII.”
