Ever wondered how would Street Fighter be played using kinect? well, wonder no more

From Garethop’s video description: ” Ok… it’s all nice and dandy that you can use something like GlovePie to make it simple to throw a fireball or whatever, instead of having to move your body around and do the hard-work for yourself.
There is a reason all the (worth-while) games for XBOX Kinect are physically taxing to one degree or another.

Stop being an out of shape nerd and have some fun doing something physical :)

Ok.. with that out of the way… This setup is just a nice and simple FAAST config to let me do all the individual commands with my body.

low/mid/heavy punch&kick, duck, jump, left, right, throw, power move.

It’s pretty obvious what the setup is if you watch the video.

Oh, and it’s very hard to play against the computer like this, since the game expects you to pressing buttons, not moving your body, on top of the slight delay that Kinect has currently ( waiting for that MS SDK to come out with the 5ms delay! ). So this video is played at “easiest” level. I’ve done the “very easy” setting, and it is super hard, and a lot more fun! But I was getting destroyed in it when I recorded, so I put this one up of me actually beating the CPU :)

Who should be blamed for the lack of exclusive SF X Tekken characters on Xbox 360 ?

Last night, Capcom usa announced that Mega-man and Pac-man are going to join Toro, Kuro, and Cole as sony exclusive characters for Street Fighter x Tekken. Minutes later, the official Capcom forums where swarmed by angry fans blaming Capcom for not caring for the xbox 360 fan base, especially that Ono san previously made it clear that there will be no xbox 360 exclusive characters. So is Capcom really siding with the playstation, giving them 5, not one, but FIVE, exclusive characters? Does Capcom really hate the xbox 360 and wants to piss off its fan-base? The answer is, in short, NO!

The answer to this burning question is as follow: Capcom approached both Sony and Microsoft to develop exclusive characters for each system. Exclusivity means that the giant corporations, Microsoft and Sony, will have to pay capcom for including such and such character and him/her being exclusive to that particular console. Sony said yes and galdly paid Capcom to make the 5 exclusive characters we now know, while Microsoft declined the offer, and therefore Capcom is not making any extra characters for the Xbox 360 version.

Megaman and Pacman’s Bios and the reason why we got box art megaman instead of the regular one

Posting on his twitter, Game producer Yoshinori ono revealed that he talked to Megaman creator, Kenji Inafune, and it was him who wanted box art megaman instead of regular megaman.

The story of megaman (if you are interested) seems to be taken from the megaman legends game, check out a translation courtesy of siliconera:

Megaman:

Known as a Digger, a person who digs up relics from the past for research. He is a hot-tempered man, but has a strong sense of justice and is also very polite. His weak point is that he is easily rattled when backed into a corner. He is always running around in a hurry due to the demands of his partner Roll, and this time he’s been asked to travel to Antarctica to retrieve a mysterious box.

And finally check out Pac-man’s bio below:

A living being whose origin and motive are wrapped in mystery. It is an omnivorous life form that consumes anything in its path. No matter what happens, its smile never leaves its face. It is not known what it is thinking or what its motives are, but it is certainly heading towards the box.

Box-art Megaman and Pacman join the SF X Tekken roster as Playstation exclusives!!!

As predicted and leaked few days ago, Pac-man(riding a mokujin) and box-art mega-man have both been confirmed for Sf X Tekken. The surprise, however, is that both characters will only appear on PS3 and PS vita. Check out the trailer showing the 2 characters along with Cole, and Toro and Kuro:

Pretty surprising move for Capcom to give Playstation users 5 extra characters while the xbox360 version will not get any exclusive character (sd confirmed by Ono who wanted to put Master-chief from the Halo franchise and Marcus Phoenix from gears of war, but did not).

So now that the leaked roster seems legit, you guys should expect to see Elena in the sf4 engine pretty soon!

Ono believes the future of Street Fighter is in customization (gems like system)

In an interview with eurogamer, Street Fighter and SF X tekken producer, Yoshinori Ono, said that he believes that the future of Street Fighter and fighting games in general is in customization.

From the article: “ Future fighting games, he told Eurogamer, will let gamers customise their characters to a greater degree than we’ve seen in the past – indeed Street Fighter x Tekken’s controversial gem system is a sign of things to come.

“For future titles I want to keep having this concept of, my character is different than your character,” he said.

“In fighting games, the only difference between me and you is how good I am. But what I want to do with fighting games from now on is add in that element of customisation, where I can have a Ryu that’s different than your Ryu, so we can compete on a different level than just our execution.”

To read the full article click here.

So what does it mean for you and me? Well from what is Ono saying, we can all be pretty sure now, that the GEM system is only the start of a big change in the fighting games world (or just Street Fighter), and if you were hoping that the GEM system will be removed somehow, then it is bad news for you!

Free Tournament mode DLC coming to Sf X Tekken post launch!

In an interview with eurogamer, Ono san announced that  a free tournament mode dlc will be released post launch. No details on what this tournament mode will consist off, but Ono san started talking about how the gem system has been misunderstood, and about the fears of tournament organizers from this new system.

From the article:

The fighting game community has reacted strongly to the gem system, with some predicting it will grant an unfair advantage – an accusation Capcom denies.

Those in the tournament scene have their own set of concerns, including how the gem system will impact hosting matches.

“We know a lot of players are worried that with the gem system tournaments will be harder to run,” Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono told Eurogamer.

“We know they take a lot of time. A lot of players were saying, ‘I have to do button checks. Do I have to do a gem check now before a match?’ With regards to that we plan to release a free post-launch tournament support mode.”

Capcom hopes to release the tournament support mode as quickly as possible. “Hopefully it will alleviate a lot of the concerns the community has,” Ono said.
